Training/Course Description: In response to the needs assessment completed in the spring of 2014, this two day series was created to provide resources, tools, and action planning on how schools can reflect on current systems and practices to drive change towards being more responsive with students who are culturally and linguistically diverse in assessment practices and services regarding placement in special education.
Scheduled Dates: Day 1 - January 22, 2015; Day 2 - April 1, 2015
Presenter: Dana McConnell is the Coordinator of Instructional Supports for Students with Disabilities with the Wisconsin RtI Center. This position is focused on improving the capacity of schools to increase the academic and behavioral success of students with disabilities in a multi-level system of support. Her experiences in the schools has ranged from pre-K through 12 and has covered public, private, and charter schools. Dana is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP).
Target Audience: Equity Leadership Teams/Building Leadership Teams; *School teams are encouraged and may include: Building Administrators/Principals, School Psychologists, Special Education Directors and Teachers, Curriculum Directors, Assessment Coordinators
Each team will need to bring a laptop to work from. Team members will need access to the Disproportionality Plan online. Please be sure that a team member has the necessary login and password information.
