Tentative Agenda

8:30 AM - 9:45 AM | Dr. Bettina Love

We Gonʼ Be Alright, But That Ainʼt Alright: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom

Dr. Loveʼs talk will discuss the struggles and the possibilities of committing ourselves to an abolitionist goal of educational freedom, as opposed to reform, and moving beyond what she calls the educational survival complex. Abolitionist Teaching is built on the creativity, imagination, boldness, ingenuity, and rebellious spirit and methods of abolitionists to demand and fight for an educational system where all students are thriving, not simply surviving.

10:30 AM - 11:45 AM | Deepa Iyer

Solidarity and Sustainability for Educators

In this time of overlapping crises and overwhelm, how can educators anchor their vital work to advance equity and justice? In this session, participants will be introduced to tools and frameworks around social change roles, solidarity and sustainability that can strengthen their racial equity leadership.

12:00 PM - 1:15 PM | Future Cain

Knowing Yourself & Building a Community of Belonging

Humans are psychologically wired to seek acceptance. Recent studies have found that 40% of employees feel isolated while 25% of employees feel they don’t belong at their workplace. Could humanity build more spaces where people feel they belong if we were all more self aware? Being self-aware is central to how we experience the world. It is what makes us human. One needs to put time and effort into cultivating an accurate self awareness of self. To know thyself is to know another. In this time in our history, where we continue to be in the midst of a stress epidemic, healthy, fulfilling, strong relationships and spaces are priceless to our physical, psychological, and spiritual well being. This session will be a liberating journey of self-discovery so that we all can embrace being more intentional about our individual and collective social consciousness and awareness because our attitudes and behaviors have an impact on all around us.

2:00 PM - 3:15 PM | Amanda Goodenough

Racial Healing Across Segregated Places & Midwest Nice Faces

Follow Amanda on her journey of navigating, naming, and disrupting the polite racism that is seeped into every corner of the most racially segregated state of Wisconsin. From color evasiveness to conflict-averse culture, Amanda will highlight barriers for achieving racial justice and the collective healing that must take place along the way.

4:00 PM - 5:15 PM | Dr. Eddie Moore Jr.

#CPRDiversity: Are You Ready?

CPR Diversity is based on Dr. Moore’s 25 years of experience as a Diversity Practitioner and the basic knowledge he believes we all must have when it comes to diversity. This baseline knowledge is essential to navigate today’s world, could keep you from losing your job and literally save someone's life. The session will challenge the audience to examine and explore issues related to bias, privilege, equity, supremacy and belief systems. Additionally, we learn how to take action against individual and systemic racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression. We need #MooreLeaders #MooreCitizens committed to justice, equity and change across the world. Are you ready? This conversation/training is designed to explore the various challenges, complexities and emotions local, regional and national. My goal is to challenge us all with one important question: Are we changing/progressing? Now is the time for us to be #MooreCommitted, #MooreFocused and #MoorePrepared as we continue to be and inspire #MooreGoodTrouble across the globe.
